Simply Unbelievable
The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today... is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is simply what an unbelieving world finds unbelievable.
An Unbelievable Truth
I love music. But for a while, I didn't get into many different types of music until I heard the band, "DC Talk." It was my 7th or 8th grade year, and I popped them into my 90's style cd player while laying in bed, and I heard their awesomeness for the first time. Since then, music has influenced me in a lot of ways. One song on this cd, "What If I Stumble", has stood out to me ever since. I heard the intro for the first time, and I didn't realize how powerful and true the words were until ...
Tonight. There is another song that has an introduction exactly the same. I'm sure by now you're curious to know what in the world this "intro" is. It is a quote by a man named Brennan Manning. These are the words that rang true in my head,
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."
Wow. What a statement. How do you respond to this blunt statement? I want to do something about this. Although I can't change every single Christian, only God can, I can stress the importance of walking in God's will every second of every day of your precious life. Athesim. The belief that there is no God. Who are we to blame for people falling for this lie? Sin? Our Education System? Dare I say the Church? As Christians, we are called to be nonconformist's, not to fit in to the World, but to stand out with humility and glorifying God through obedience. Let's do this! Live every day in obedience to God, denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following God! You never know who could be watching you. You may be the reason someone turns to Athesim.
You may think that I'm completely out of line for saying that We could shove people away from God and towards a life of no purpose, no direction, and ultimately atheism, but take what Brennan Manning said as a reminder to live for God all the time.
